Hastelloy B2
Hastelloy B2 is a nickel based corrosion resistant alloy containing about 65% nickel and 26% to 30% molybdenum, with carbon limited to ≤0.01%. Its single phase austenitic structure provides resistance to reducing acids, including hydrochloric and sulfuric acid, and to sulfur bearing media. The source states stable mechanical performance from -196℃ to 400℃. Typical equipment includes reactors, evaporators, piping, and agitators handling hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, or formic acid. B2 is less resistant to oxidizing media such as nitric acid, so material selection must follow the service environment.
