18Ni250 Maraging Steel
18Ni250 is an ultra high strength maraging steel containing about 18% nickel, along with cobalt, molybdenum, and titanium. Carbon is limited to ≤0.03%. Solution treatment forms an ultra low carbon martensitic matrix, while aging precipitates intermetallic compounds such as Fe₂Mo and Ni₃Ti for strengthening. The source describes a combination of very high strength, toughness, low distortion, and good weldability. It also retains impact and fatigue resistance at high strength and provides a degree of corrosion resistance.
